It's not at all uncommon for you to feel this way. At 16, you are probably just now forming these kinds of questions in your mind, and that's completely normal. You don't have to have your life planned out at your age. The fact that you are thinking about your future in general terms is right where you should be for your age! Heaven knows I didn't know what I wanted at age 16...in fact I didn't know at age 25, either. It took living....experiencing the world, before I found a path I wanted to follow. I'm 37 now, and it's only in the last two years that I've finally found the right path for me. I'm back in college getting an education so I can work in the field I am interested in. But if you would've asked me at 16, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell you that this is where I'd be today. You don't have to have it all figured out right now. It's a good thing you're thinking about the future...but allow yourself some time to figure things out. Where do your interests lie? What are you good at? What sounds like something you might want to learn more about? Sometimes it really helps to take a career planning class (after high school) if by then you still don't know what you want to do. There are people there who can help you assess where your skills are, and help you make a realistic goal for yourself. Career planning counselors and classes are usually available at almost every local community college. And sometimes these services are also offered within the city or community in which you live (try the local employment or work source offices.) But don't panic if you don't know what you want just yet. Not many people do, at your age.

When my career hopes to become an artist failed, I didn't know what to do or aim for. This led to lots of frustration, goallessness, and embarassment. Add to this list no social life or dates, and I felt sorry for myself. Career planning and thinking about starting a business didn't work out, either.

It was when I found out that I needed to know that I'm on this earth for more than just having fun, making money, marriage, etc. I'm made to be in a right relationship with the only one who made me inside and out. He knows me better than anyone else. Since he made me for his plans, he's told me what I'm here for, so I can stop wasting time.

What I'm saying is, get into a real relationship with God through His Son Jesus, and he'll lead you and guide you throughout your life. Then you won't have to drift around and go in the wrong direction. Just invite Him.

go for what you enjoy

try find out sooner rather than later, you don't want to do a degree then work for a few years before realizing that you are in the wrong career. When choosing a career, choose one that you would do even if you weren't getting paid for it.

you are 16 and that's the age you start thinking about what you want and don't want.
so stop thinking and let nature to take care of the rest.

you are very young and enjoy being young for now. while you will be enjoying your life as a teen the thought will come to you and it will show you what you want.
life is not hard we make it hard for ourselves. simply stop thinking for a ward. and enjoy life for now.
