he might, because federer has been loosing lately, and i personally think he's loosing his spark, so yes i think jovak might win the Aussie, I'll put nadal out of the picture because he usually only beets the top seeds on clay. GO JAVOK BEET THAT ARROGANT FEDERER

I am a huge fan of his and I really enjoy watching him play, but I don't think he will win the aussie open this year. I still stick Federer and this is why. Jokovic's run at the US Open showed me two things, he has heart and he gets injured very easily. Every match, he had a trainer out there attending to some kind of injury. This leads me to think he still needs to work on his conditioning. And what worse place to play than Australia during their summer in horrendous heat. I think if he had problems at the open, those should continue. Granted, he could have worked on his conditioning during the last several months, but i still like Federer to win the event over someone know one expects in the final. That is usually the script down under anyways where surprise finalists are the norm.
By the way, the guy stating that Jokovic will be on the same side of Feds draw is mistaken. He has a 50-50 shot to be on the other side of the draw. The #1 and #2 seeds are placed at opposite ends of the draw. After that, they draw to see where everone goes. The 3-4 are at opposite ends, the 5-6 at opposite ends, ect.

I don't know if you know tennis enough, but due to Djokovic's ranking and since Djoko will be the third seed, he will be placed in the Federer's half as far as the Australian Open draw is concerned. Therefore, if both have a deep Australian Open, Djoko and Federer will meet at the AO semifinal. So there are no possibilities of them having a AO final showdown.
I really doubt Djoko will win the Aussie Open. Federer is the favorite. Also you're forgetting Nalby, Ferrer, Nadal, Gasquet - all these four players beat Djokovic last month.

Keep in mind that the Aussie Open is sporting a new surface. With that being said, there's no guarantee in him winning the whole thing. Not to mention, Nole's late year-end struggles could carry over to 2008, because he played so much tennis. Everyone knows that you have to likely go through Rafa and Roger, if you stand a chance of winning the title. No, Rafa's never done too well in Australia, but it's a new year, and new surface. Also, he's had enough rest and should be healthy enough, so if that's the case, he'll definitely head to the 2nd week and hopefully make a push for the finals. I'm a big fan of Nole's, but I still don't think he's fully prepared to win a slam. He's still got to work on controlling his emotions when things get tight. That's the one thing that cost him the US Open title. He should have another great year, but as for winning the Aussie Open, let's just see what happens. It's a month away, but anything could happen, comes time to play.

He's definitely third, if not second, favorite. He had his chances vs. Federer in NY, beat him in Canada, and Federer had back to back losses to Nalbandian in the fall, and then Gonzalez. Fed IS beatable, and Djokovic is on the shortlist, but there are a few other contenders and a lot depends on Federer's play as well. When he's 100% on, he is pretty unbeatable.
The only thing about Djokovic is he is susceptible to losses from the next tier of players (Nalbandian, Ferrer, etc. had victories over him indoors). The high bouncing surface in Australia probably doesn't help his game either.

Djokovic first needs to have his name spelled correctly.
I think Djokovic has what it takes to be a real threat. He fights hard to improve. He lost the US Open, but don't forget he had epic battles before he met Fed. He was exhausted. I don't think Djoko will win this year, I think it will be Fed again, BUT it will be a very interesting AO. MAN! can't wait!
Nadal's threat is greatly diminishing even on clay. His body is burning out. Roddick has better staying power, believe it or not. I think Andy could outlast Nadal, but Andy MUST have a good strong fighter attitude. You'd never hear Federer making jokes while he's playing Nadal. He just tries to beat him. Focus. Roddick has a lot more potential than he gives, but he wastes it because he's too emotional. He has to concentrate more. Djokovic, even when he's down, regroups and concentrates. He studies frame after frame of what makes Roger better?
They all need to work on core strength. Roger has amazing core strength, which gives him the amazing balance that he has.
I hope Safin comes back. I love his fiery temprament. SMASH@

It is Djokovic and he has the full potential to do so. He is an
amazing player and if he can play like he did in 2007 Montreal
/Toronto, where in he beat Roddick(#3), then Nadal(#2) and
in the finals Federer(#1). He played a great tournament and
he needs to be mentally prepared.
If he can do it, then he can definitely do it in Aussie open.
Lets hope he and Federer would be fun to watch.
