This looks familiar....

1) Well, what is the mixed layer defined as? Once you know what it is you should be able to know where it is the thickest.

2) Again, once you define the mixed layer, you will know how it comes about.

3) Locate the Straight of Gibraltar on a map. That should help you figure this out. If not, you can look up the Straight of Gibraltar online or in an encyclopedia and that should help.

4) Look up diatom online or in an encyclopedia and it will tell you.

Learning is the pursuit of answers, not having them given to you. Haven't you ever heard "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for life."?
