The best way to live with a phobia, is to ignore it. I know that is easier said than done, but the more you think about your fear of being sick - the more fear and anxiety you create, the worse your phobia will become.
Is it not a good idea to read books about Phobia then?
In the short-term you will feel a little bit better (because you understand a little about yourself - and this gives you a sense of control) but in the long term, all you are doing is spending more and more time thinking about your phobia - and hence dragging up more emotion.

Some forms of therapy attempt to 'get around' the phobia, or make the sufferer feel better about 'living with it'. Others try to understand intellectually what may be causing it. Hypnotherapy can find the cause of the problem, and when it does, the phobia disappears - because there is nothing driving it anymore.
Phobias are almost always formed in the childhood (though the symptoms may not appear for many years) and are caused by the sufferer bottling up some strong emotions, and those emotions being projected onto an object/situation. (bitten by a dog = fear of dogs)
The only way to CURE a phobia (to get rid of it completely, so that it no longer effects the person) is to release the bottled up emotions that are causing it. Sounds easy?
The only difficulty is........most of the time, the bottled up emotions are completely locked away (hidden) in the depths of the persons subconscious mind. (some people call the process repression, or denial, or disavowal or even dissociation...but the effect is the same - the sufferer has no conscious awareness of the emotions or experiences that are bottled up,Most other types of therapy cannot gain access to these 'locked away' emotions & experiences, whereas hypnoanalysis can - sometimes quite easily.
The process of Hypnoanalysis (sometimes referred to as analytical hypnotherapy) requires a strong bond of trust and rapport being created between the therapist, and the client.
Over a period of about eight sessions, at weekly intervals, we slowly link thoughts and memories back through time (by talking about them) until we come to the bottled up emotions. When we get to these emotions, we talk them through until they are resolved. Hi ive found this for you , i really hope it helps you somehow i understand what your going thro, i went thro similar not of illness but other, good luck and peace in your life w.w P.S may i say also well done to Tera, your amazing,

I used to have panic attacks, too. And they're no laughing matter, I agree. It used to be so bad that I didn't want to leave the house. I had them for 14 years. I've been panic-attack free now for the last five years. There IS hope! You can get the help you need. Talking to a psychologist will help you. You're not alone. Many people have the same problem. There is an underlying severe source of stress in your life that you haven't dealt with. It's something you probably are aware of, yet you push this awareness away. You don't want to face it. Perhaps you feel like you can't do anything about it, and it's this helplessness that you feel that is causing your panic attacks. A psychologist can help you come to terms with this. Please trust someone to help you. You don't have to continue to live your life with this problem when there is help out there for you. If I can overcome my panic attacks after having them for 14 years of my life, you can, too. I wish I had sought help sooner. Fourteen years is a long time to be disabled by that disorder. I know it may seem scary to reach out for help..but please do it.

Good luck to you

well everyone is afraid of gettin sick. it doesnt feel good. worryin about gettin sick all the time doesnt help either. when you're worried or anxious your bodys immune system is actually more vulnerable to infections. usually your body is able to fight off most of the common infections but when you're stressed out. it weakens your immune system and that doesnt help you in anyway. the best way you can overcome this fear is to gain the confidence of your body back. go to the gym. take yoga. spend a couple minutes on the treadmill. whatever physical work out your body can take to help strengthen not only your body. but your confidence about your body as well. the more healthy of a person. the more chances they have to overcome an infection when it occurs. not only cuz of their healthy immune system. but because they know that their body is healthy enough to do it. remember. your body is only capable of doin what you think it can. if you have the will to fight it. knowin that you can fight it off. then chances are your body will fight it off. have confidence in your body and health. stop thinkin that they cant fight off infections and get you sick. if you keep thinkin like that. your body would give up on fightin infections. havin a healthy body is only half of the battle. you need the confidence in knowin that you can fight it off too. seems like you've lost half of the battle before you have even began. good luck.

if you think about it you will attract that sickness in you thought toward you.

what you think about you attract it to you and it's best you stop thinking about it and think healthy.
