If you drink it after than date it will probably taste a little plastic-y. And that's not that refreshing.

Yes, I would go along with the profit thing. However, the suppliers may be showing concern about the fact that the plastic will leach into the water over time.

Glass is better.

If it is bottled, under clean conditions and never opened, it should be fine - except for chemicals from the plastic leaching into it. If in a glass bottle, it's fine.

Prolly a way to sell more water.
