The perception of *ugliness* is very relative to the one perceiving it so...what's ugly to me may not be ugly for someone else.

While it is difficult to define "ugly" because everyone has different standards, probably the most common physical characteristic is the lack of symmetry in physical features.

I have seen articles that say attractiveness on the most basic level is found through symmetry. We find people the most attractive that have the most perfect symmetry. (Ears in the exact same place, same exact shape and size, etc.)
Ugly then would be the opposite.
The real problem with this question, however, is that ugly is really determined by personal opinion.

Basically the more symmetrical we see a face the prettier it is in our view or in the way we visualise beauty.

So the answer to your question is any aspect of a face that we see that is not symmetrical is therefore a physical characteristic of "Ugly"

What an thrilling question. permit me toss stuff else into the mixture: the fact that someone has his very own view of ways he seems, sometimes having no longer something to do with the way he certainly seems. it is why sometimes a heavy person loses weight yet continually thinks of himself as heavy. it is probable genuine of individuals who've cosmetic surgical technique besides. The suggestions's eye is somewhat valuable. So in that way, i think of your actual features do no longer mildew your character, because of the fact which you have your person view of what you look like, possibly having no longer something to do with the fact. i think of, regardless of the undeniable fact that, that the reactions you get from human beings do mildew your character. In different words, in case you have been teased as a newborn for having some actual trait, i think of that would stay with you as the two a destructive or, in case you combat it, an outstanding stress. thrilling question, regardless of the undeniable fact that.

It all depends on the eyes of the beholder. But some popular characteristics that go with ugly are ungroomed eyebrows, acne, overweight, disproportionally sized features.

That is a personal opinion question. Everyone will say something different.

I think that ugly is being a mean person. You can be the prettiest person in the world, but if you have a crappy personality than it doesn't matter. I can find beauty in anyone personally. It doesn't matter what you look like physically. It's personality that counts for me! =]

Ugly is just an opinion. One persons ugly could be another persons dream.

I don't think it is in the eye of the beholder - there are some people that everyone would agree (in private) are ugly.

It might be a combination of factors - like a big nose itself isn't always ugly, but combine it with goofy teeth and it is?
