...as with many of Tim Burton's films, this one took a handful of viewings, to finally 'grow' on me, as far as greater appreciation and understanding...
...as a result of these repeated viewings of the film, I've pretty much assumed the opinion mantle of both vastly different incarnations of "Planet of the Apes" being just that: different, interesting and quite entertaining incarnations/visions of the same story, with one not necessarily being any better or worse than the other...
I would give director Tim Burton, and the writers of the 2001 version, some definite applause for sticking much closer to author Peter Boulle's original novel; the film definitely hit upon very intriging ideas and plot points, which were not explored in the 1968 film...
...overall, as far as Tim Burton's visionary 're-imagining' of the original story, I would definitely have to ask..."Is there a soul in there??"; Why, most assuredly, yes!!!

Honesty I am a big fan of the originals. Marky Mark's character, had a strong role & he's hot, Tim Burton is great as always. zi liked the movie, I don't think that there was never plans to have a sequel. it wold have been cool to see, I just don't think there was enough fan base tho?

Well, most remakes are underrated because most people who saw the original one first was the one they got more familiarized with, anyways, I liked the remake.
