it came to you in the post and it had a compliment slip on it from a debt collection company?

It was obviously sent to you in error.

What would you do? Report it to the Data Protection?

Send it back with a note indicating it had been wrongly sent.

Call whoever sent it and give them a chance to rectify the situation and audit their process then you may also want tell the monitoring agency of your country (If it is the USA, then you would report it to the FCRA) so that the government can follow up to make sure this business has the proper checks and balances in place. It is your civic duty. Good luck!
