I have this friend who recently moved out and is living with a friend and she doesn't really have much. I don't want to get her something that she wouldn't use, but I can't really come up with anything that would clever. Ideas?

Sunnysmile has a great idea, the odd things you could put in the other packages, her favorite nail polish, favorite lip stick/gloss, Hair thingies, little things that are not expensive but things that add up. More ideas, slippers, do you live where it's cold? Does she need things to use where she's living now like things for the kitchen? If so hit the dollar stores, they have all kinds of kitchen gadgets. Just make the main gift the card, and if you get a Visa or Master Card gift card they can be used anywhere. Not just in one store.
Merry Christmas

Get her a gift card to a local store like wal-mart or target and let her pick out what she wants. Or get her a gift card to a local restaurant so she can take the people she's living with out to dinner.

If it was me receiving the gifts...I'd love gift cards to buy what I needed..Wrap it up in several pkgs. from small to biggest for your friend to unwrap adding small goofy items along the way in each pkg. The smallest being the gift card of course ! Merry Christmas!

Something for her apartment/house. Decorative pillows, nice drinking glasses?
I have a friend who was happy to get a fondue set because he didn't have one and used a regular pot.

Take her grocery shopping. Buy her something practical. Does she need silverware? Cooking stuff? Ask her.
