Would a baby southern painted be OK in a 75 gal. tank or is the water to deep? The tank would be almost completely full and there is a short ramp to the basking area which is outside the tank. I used this setup for my map turtle and it worked fine but i'm not quite sure if this would work for a baby painted.

Yes. Painted turtle LOVE lots of water. You could get the biggest tank you could afford and they would really love you! How do you think they live out in the wild? In huge lakes. And you can fill it up as high as the water can go and so that your turtle can never escape. Just make sure that you dont ever put anything in the tank that your turtle can be trapped in.
Good Luck!

It should be fine. Even a 75 Gallon tank is smaller/shallower than the average pond the turtles live in.

Baby turtles tend to be poor swimmers. If they cannot easily surface, they could drown. In the wild, they live in shallow, weedy bodies of water, not "huge lakes".
You should provide lots of underwater structure, such as driftwood and plants, so that it can use them to climb on, as an aid to reach the surface.
*Note to those that are giving this answer thumbs down: There have been several postings here in the last several months by people whose baby turtles have drowned, due to being unable to surface in deeper water.
Feel free to research it.
