The earliest known turtles show up in the Triassic Period- about the same time as, but a bit earlier than the dinos.

Most of the things that survived were small and could tolerate a wide variety of conditions and diets.

Since we don't know for sure why dinos died off, we don't know for sure why some things died and some did not.

i know the archelon lived in the cretaceous era, dinosaurs also lived then...so basically yes, terrapins lived alongside dinosaus.
