We all know there are too many people on this planet, and that humans are "hard-wired" to reproduce, with religion playing a not insignificant role.

I am NOT wanting to get political here, but something has to be done about the 'population vs. dwindling resources' thing we have going on now.

Do you think we will ever reach a point where couples NOT having children will be the norm, thereby stabilizing population growth?

If nothing else, think of the extra income, time, and fun you could have if you did NOT have kids!

Sadly I want children. I always have wanted someone to have a better life than me and to nuture. But I'm not having them until I can afford it, have the time, and am able to handle it.

I know lots of people who had kids they can't afford, don't want .... It's a waste. I really see why countries have manditory abortions or a law on how many children you can have. I mean my best friend accidently got pregnant while on birth control and could barely affordit then she got it in her head to have a 2nd baby, she is costing the country thousands of dollars a year to be on welfare....

It's really disgusting and something should be done. People should not be allowed to have children until they are some how approved. I'm not sure how this would work but I know some people should NEVER be allowed to reproduce and if that means manditory fixing then so be it.

I'm not going to have children. There are many reasons for this...
-They cost lots of money/time/effort/patience.
-They are a BIG responsibility.
- I don't like kids.
- I have better things to do.
- My body will look shite.
- I'll become boring.
- My kids will become my entire life, and then because of this I'll become FAT.
- I don't want to bring more people into this crappy life thing.
- I can get free contraception on the NHS.
- I'll become miserable and controlling like so many other women (mothers) I know.
- I saw a woman the other day driving a Porsche with 2 kids in it... EUGH! I mean... WTF?! One of them was even in one of those baby seat things... =S =S =S

To be honest I think these are good enough reasons to NOT have kids, without even considering the state of the planet.
Also, I don't think people will ever stop having children for the sake of the planet, and I don't think there will be anything enforced to prevent this. After all, the more people there are the more taxes governments can receive...

No.
What is happening now is the more intelligent people are choosing to either not have kids or only have one, so the good genes in the genepool are drying up, meanwhile, people that natural selection should have taken care of generations ago are reproducing at astronomical rates, and that will only increase with each successive generation.
