Okay, here is the question.

The circle graph below shows a monthly budget of expenses for a small business. If the total monthly budget is $8,000, approximently how much is budgeted for transportation?

I can't show you the graph, but the transportation makes up 20% of the graph. Thanks, I am horrible at math.

20% of 8000 = 8000*0.2= $1600 on transportation

20% = 0.20

20% really means 20$ out of 100$ goes to transportation
You multiply (20/100)($8000)=$1600

You can solve it through proportion:
If the whole circle graph is equivalent to $8,000, then what is the value of 20% of the graph?
100%:8,000=20%:n
1:8,000=.2:n
n=8,000 X .2
n=1,600
$1,600

or you can look at it this way:

What is 20% of 8,000?
=.2 X 8,000
=$1,600
