Is there some type of particles that has a mass lower than the electron?

Neutrinos appear to have a very low rest mass, much smaller than the electron. Photons have zero rest mass.

That's right. All 6 kinds of neutrinos have masses much lower than an electron.

neutrons are extremely heavy/dense compared to protons and electrons. neutrons are found in the nucleus, which is an extremely condensed space that fits a ton of these heavy/dense particles in an extremely small space. therefore, lots of heavy/dense neutrons fitted into the nucleus outweigh the (in comparison) light electrons found elsewhere in the atom.
