Movie lengths seem to vary in cycles. In the really early days of cinema, movies were short and to the point. Then Cecil B. DeMille came around and everything was almost 3 hours long. In the 70's, movies were lean and mean. Lord of the Rings? Back to 3 hours. Now? Short and sweet. Give it five years and the epics will be back.
