The m between rubber tires and wet pavement is 0.50. The brakes are applied to a 1125.15 kg car traveling at 32.60 m/s, and the car skids to a stop. What is the size and direction of the force of friction that causes the car to stop?

then it wants to know what would be the size and direction of the acceleration of the car?

friction is normal times µ

in this case
f=1125.15*9.81*0.5
5518.86 N

The acceleration is
F=m*a
so
5518.86/1125.15
4.90 m/s^2 retarding the car
