500 but my 2 gig ipod was full at 375 although i had 2 dane cooks that were over an hour long

you would be better off getting a 80 gig classic

thats one of the best things ive bought

It also depends on the sound quality and length per song though. Than number comes from an average 4 minute song at 128 kbps encoding (about CD quality.)

my 80 G can hold 20,000 songs

so that is 250 songs per Gig,

your's is 2 Gigabytes making
