Yes this is very normal in fact it is a good sign. Both the shell and skin will peel. Do not peel them you could hurt them.

There are three causes of shedding:

Normal growth- shell sheds are paper thin, translucent, and the tissue underneath is normal. Should not happen very often.

Stress related- looks like above, but happens more often. The result of too much food, wrong food, bad temps, dirty water, etc. This is the most common situation.

Rot- has thick sheds and/or discoloration under shed.

i agree with the other girl,if it is skin its fine if its shedding shell,seek a vet A.S.A.P.
