Yeah. I was really really sick a few years ago and didn't go into work. After a week or so of no one checking the voice mail and not getting my message, a co-worker / friend of mine got worried and filed a missing person report. The cops showed up at my door and were a little pissed to have done all of that work for nothing.

No,they just walk right in.
They do periodical visits to make sure the pub I run is trouble free and to make me aware of any problems in the area, which luckily are very few.
