Methanol's high heat of vaporization results in lower peak flame temperatures than gasoline and lower nitrogen oxide emissions.

methanol requires very high heat to vaporize thus it is not as flammable as gasoline. It requires almost as much heat as water to vaporize. Therefore the vapor available to burn produces lower flame temperatures due to less fuel to burn (it's the vapor that burns not the liquid)

methanol does not produce nitrogen oxide when it burns.
Methanol burns in air forming carbon dioxide and water:

I guess you are talking of a mix with gasoline. Ethanol has a bit higher heat of vaporization so it is often mixed with gasoline to make the gasoline burn cleaner and cooler.

The Boiling Point of Methanol is so High, it results in lower peak Flame Temperatures than gasoline, and emits less Nitrogen Oxide.

did i get it right? I am a sixth grader too, so HA!

It's "laymen" not lame men... at least not necessarily.

It means that methanol turns to gas at a very high temperature and as a result the flame from the gas when burned has a lower temperature and has fewer nitrogen oxide produced as a byproduct.

lol... someone needs to do a PSA that it's LAYMEN's TERMS, not lame men's terms! although some of the people still caught in this mess-up are pretty lame.

It means that methanol burns *completely* at lower temperatures than gasoline, thus producing a cleaner-burning fuel when some gasoline is substituted with methanol.

It means someone is touting the "cleaner burning" aspects of using Methanol as a fuel instead of gasoline...

In other words...

Less smog...
