My 1992 Lumina Euro has started shaking real bad when I go down the highway. Usually around 60mph, and gets worse the faster you go. I make a bad vibrating noise in the rear and the shaking is in the rear. I need to replace the rear brakes. will this have anything to do with the shaking? Feels like the shaking is coming from the left rear. any ideas?

Definetly sounds like one of the tires is out of balance, either because its worn, or the wheel weight fell off. If they are old then you can just replace them. If the tires are still relatively new, chances are the place you bought them from might re-balance them for free. Alot of tire shops do offer to rebalance tires free if you bought from there.

Could just be that you just have a very badly out of balance tire. Look for cupping or other unusual wear marks on the tires.

When you have the brakes done, the mechanic should also check the wheel spindles.

The most likely cause is a bad tire or two that has a belt separation which causes it to be out of round. You may also have lost some wheel weights and need to get your tires rebalanced or replaced if they are worn.

the way you decide if its a tire or balance is put into gear and let it roll do you feel any shake or bounce its a tire bad or wheel bad if it stops shaking at a seretant speed then it balance and you can have that fix at any tire store why not look at tire and see if it looks bad or not and id drive it to a shop and have it check could be a bad tire and might be heading to a blowout
