...being a most devoted fan of Richard Matheson's most intriguing and horrific novel, from which the film is based, I really must say that the new cinematic interpretation of the story was a definite let down...almost a simplistic and pared-down version of the original story; there were many compelling, intriguing and tension-filled plot points from the original story, which were not even explored in the new film (...though they WERE explored in the previous incarnations, namely "The Last Man on Earth" and "The Omega Man")...

...overall, it appears the general public seems to be quite satisfied with the film; I'm of the inclination that if folks liked the movie, they would absolutely love the book. It touches upon many aspects in the story, which were left quite vague, or even non-existant, in the new film...

I agree with most of you guys. Will did a great job, having no co-stars to take some pressure off of him. It was not what I visualized (Him being an action hero, shooting stuff up). I didn't read the book, but I saw Omega Man like 10 years ago. It's still a must see movie.

Now I'm waiting on for the anticipated (for me atleast) Cloverfield!

I know a lot of people didn't like it but I thought it was one of the better movies of this year. And if you are going to bring the book into this let the movie be judged by it's own merits. But I thought it was very well done. Even thought the third act did fall apart a little, it still had some great scenes and was able to stay exciting.
