Because of the gases (nitrogen, oxygen, etc.) same thing for the various colors you see as the sun is setting.

Sunlight is scattered in different directions by dust particles and gas molecules in the atmosphere. The shorter light waves at the blue end of the spectrum are scattered more effectively than the longer waves at the red end.Large amounts of blue rays and small amounts of other colours are scattered across the sky.We see these light rays against the dark background of outer space, and so the sky appears to be blue.
At sunset or sunrise, the rays from the sun have to pass through a greater extent of the atmosphere than at noon. Most of the blue colour is scattered away and only the red light having longer wavelength reaches the observer. Therefore the sun looks almost reddish at sunset and sunrise.

The sky is mainly blue because blue is the last colour in the spectrum to diseappear.
It turns red (sometimes) in the morning because of the suns rays 'scratching the surface' of the atmosphere of where you are.

First of all visible radiation arriving from the sun is scattered by air molecules, blue through red. Rayleigh scattering says that scattering is inversely proportion to the fourth power of the wavelength. This means of course that the shorter the wavelength (blue in the case of visible radiation), the greater will be the scattering, if and only if there is no scattering from suspended dust in the atmosphere. This latter type of scattering is referred to as Mie (pronounced me) scattering. It is Mie scattering that produces red sunsets or sunrises. But the clearest and cleanest skies will be the bluest ones.

The sky is blue because that light from the sun reflects off the oceans serface and brings the light pigment up to the sky so it appears to be blue.

the sunset and sunrise colors are caused by pollution in the air
technically the sky isnt blue but it is clear and reflects light off the clouds and the ocean and appears blue...i think something like that, not 100% sure
