Quod erat demonstrandum--"which was to be shown." It's the traditional ending to a mathematical problem, indicating that the problem has been solved.

(There's a legend that a former chairman of mathematics at Johns Hopkins suffered a fatal heart attack at the blackboard and that, as he slid to the floor, he scrawled at the bottom of the board, "QED.")

Quad erat demonstrandum - Thus it is shown (proved). It is often used after the written solution of an analytical problem.

Edit - In case there are only two answers, Aida is correct and I'm corrected.
