Federal spending on paper shredding has increased more than 600 percent since George W. Bush took office. This chart, generated by usaspending.gov, the U.S. government's brand spanking new database of federal expenditures, shows spending on "contracts for paper shredding services" going back to 2000
In 2000, the feds spent $452,807 to make unpleasant truths go away; by 2006, the "Cheney Effect" had bumped that number up to $2.9 million. And by halfway through 2007, the feds almost matched that number, with $2.7 million and counting

Like so many leftists , you immediately assume some machiavellian, evil (redundant) reason for what "shows up " when it is related to the President of the United States of America.
Yes,their was a time when this addicted AWOL pathological liar and convicted DUI arrestee and preported womanizer would have bought thousands of paper shredders to cover up his filthy/stinking behaviors but since he found the Lord and was BORN Again for YOU or anyone to suggest for a nano second that the President of the United States of America who has even told us that God has blessed his Iraqi "party",is simply blasphamy and you should be ashamed of yourself.
YOU do not seem to understand that once you are BORN AGAIN you can do any friggin thing you want from murder to crimes against humanity to lying to whatever and all is well with God and you will still get into the PROMISED LAND.
You must understand that these CHILDREN Of GOD fundies truly believe it is OKAY to lie and do anything as long as God tells them it is for HIS Kingdom and who the hell are YOU and ME to argue with God.
Lying to further GOD'S PLAN is NOT lying period.
In fact, all this paper shredding services cost is part of the FUNDYMAN'S (AKA PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) highly commendable efforts to be as environmentally friendly as possible for paper re-cycling is even more environmentally friendly if the paper is shredded .
You need to apologize for your inference that the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA had all these paper shredders bought to prevent the world from knowing all his crimes against humanity ,his authorization of torture his deficating un-constitutional abrogation of International Treaties to which the US is a signee, his aiding and abetting the growth of Al Qaeda by turning TERRORIST FREE ZONES into terrorist havens and a host of other terrible things this truly CHRISTIAN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES has been wrongly accused of .
This PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is in fact like Christ told him to be, A BLESSED PEACEMAKER and NOT A FRIGGIN WAR MONGER .
The President of the United States of America has told us that CHRIST is his hero, his mentor, his savior, his excuse, his partner so if you mess with Bush ,you mess with not only GOD but the SON and the Holy Ghost but NOT the virgin Mary because fundies believe all women are inferior to men and must obey men.
GOD HAVE MERCY ON HIM FOR HE KNOWS WHAT HE DOES AND DOES IT ANYWAYS !!!!
:-) :-)

I'm an Obama supporter and these are my thoughts: I like Ron Paul even though I don't necessarily agree with Libertarianism and the first one to try it will probably see extreme aftereffects and the idea will go down in flames. I am thirty years old and this will be the first election I vote in. I have always felt that there is a two party illusion in this country and the rich put who they want in office. It actually scares me that Obama got as far as he has and yet, he seems so genuine. How did he break through the duality? Ron Paul would have been a much better opponent for Obama and might have made him sweat a little. I don't understand how McCain is so high in the polls when Bush was so low. I guess people in general are stupid and it's the same people who voted for Bush two times! Republicans know if they vote for Ron Paul it will be a wasted vote, which is why Independents don't get many votes. They're afraid if they grow some balls and vote for him, that the worser of the assumed two evils will get the white house. Until we can convince more people to vote Independent and stay away from the parties, this duality will continue.

If you looked at the number of business expanding their shredding since that time you would see the same percentage. Identity theft is a real problem and the more you shred the better. Did you really need this explained to you or did you think you actually had a issue?

I suspect that paper shredding expense will now be considered classified information along with tape destruction.
Are there figures for the cost of replacing hard drives for the computers belonging to the republican party officials and the expense of their disposal?

I don't suppose you can show me this from a federal financial statement?
If you can't, your information is bad.
All government financial statements are available to the public, and usually expenditures this small are not listed because they would then have list all the paperclips they bought, too, and all the postits, legal pads, pens for signing bills, silverware taken by Hillary, etc.

Bush has a huge volumes of trash and untrue things to hide.....this is minimum thing he could do.Much more has been spent on wars that has made USA more unsafe today than what it was earlier. He has created an atmosphere of hatred everywhere. Americans are most hated people on this planet just for his wrong doings and spreading lies galore .

Bush has a lot to hide and a plenty of evidence to destroy. The extent of his corruption will become more apparent, especially after the election.
