my brother likes to make a christmas ornament each year and he always makes attractive and simple ones:

1. a styrofoam ball, cover it in some kind of fabric that you like, tie at the top with a loop for hanging, insert craft needles topped with sequins or other decoration, and insert whole cloves for a pleasant christmas-y smell. easy!

2. last year he just got some funky copper wire and twisted it into funky shapes, put a tie on the top and some beads on some of the ends.

Start by making a gift that is Green for Green living. Get the ball rolling and do some good and give a gift at the same time.
Try this?
Make soap from soap scraps. Go to a motel or hotel and ask for some. They usually have plenty of little pieces. Wrap it in a face-cloth or towel.
Just use a little water to soften and form, let it dry in the darkest place and don't forget the scent.

Get some fancy round ornaments and some small round 4" mirrors. Take the top off the ornament. Hot glue the ornament to the mirror. Use some small bunches of greens from a pine tree, and real mini carnations . Put in some water. Mini bud vases. You could also use small fake poinsettias. You could also get plain ones and "write" their name in glue, then cover that with glitter.

Why not buy some ornaments in different colors. They come in a package of twelve for about $2-$4.00 and decorate them. You can buy glitter, ribbon, and something to write with. You can put their names of Christmas of 2007 on the ornaments. It's a pretty fun and cheap way to make really nice gifts, that are original.

Make an advent wreath if theyre religious, or make a plain wreath to put on the front door. Use pipe cleaners and wrap them around anything in a circle shape with a whole in the middle (not donuts ;D)

if you walk into a michael's or joann's (even aaron brothers and target) you can pretty much find simple crafts to do in an hour or so... personalizing is always a great idea but nothing crazy...like a simple frame with their name on it or a photo album with cutouts for their names...the gift is pre-made but you put in the little 'extra' part :)

I'm not sure how old you are... but a few years ago my husband and I got a board, painted it, then sort of roughed up the edges to make it look "antique". We then made signs with some stencils or free hand that said "The Gathering Place" , etc. They loved them!

What about making them some nice cookies and wrapping them up in a pretty take-out chinese box. You can find the boxes at CVS and pretty them up with ribbons and such.
