I really hate the stress and pressure of trying to get everything done! Cleaning, decorating, fighting the crowds to try to find presents that you either can't afford, or don't know what the recipient would like! Then you have to wrap those gifts, get your hair and nails done to go to the parties, try to figure out what to wear (and hope it fits, since you've put on 5 pounds since Thanksgiving), and pray you don't slip and fall on the ice in your high heels!
I think men have it easier! You all just have to shave and shower, and put on clean clothes (and some of you can't seem to manage that)! The biggest stress you have is buying a gift for the woman in your life (if you pay attention, smart women will make it clear what they want. Wonder why that sales flyer or catalog keeps appearing on the table opened to the same page?)! She gets to figure out what to get all your friends and family members, as well as her own!
So, yeah, I'll be glad when all the stress and pressure is over. I do feel sad when it's over, though. I like the decorations, the festivities, etc. It helps distract from the fact winter is upon us. After New Year's (which is melancholy in it's way, too), it's very depressing. There's at least 2 months of crummy weather ahead, and no good holidays for 6 weeks. Valentine's day is pretty cool if you are with the one you love. I've had some great ones in my life. But the rest of the winter is just cold, bleak, and blah! Come on spring!
Just try to keep in perspective what the holiday is really all about. I've noticed that helps! Merry Christmas everyone!
