No arguments. Darth - and I'm not trying to patronize you for points!! LOL -- I DO think that from Caress of Steel through Hemispheres, that Lifeson got into a rut of chord-progression selection (If you'll noted, there is a lot of Tchaikovsky in his work). BUT they are AMAZING musicians, except Rutsey from the 1st album and I PRAY and HOPE that any Rush fans out there have been to their concerts, because, as you already know -- They are flat-out Godz, live !!

I don't really know many songs by Rush, but I will admit Rush has some ******' talented members. Alex Lifeson on guitar, Neil Peart on drums, Geddy Lee on bass--few bands can beat Rush in terms of talent.

They're pretty good at songwriting, and they're one of the few bands I can stand constant instrumentals from. In fact, I like instrumentals better.

I know few songs, so bare with this extremely short list (it's in order):

1. La Villa Strangiato
2. YYZ
3. Tom Sawyer

Yep, I love myself "La Villa Strangiato".

Darth , you should go to your local magazine source and get a copy of the Guitar Legends special issue mag - i saw it and snatched it up , it's a great read , and it gets into detail about the band origins and such , i was surprised to find out that Neil totally dropped out of music for 4 years and didn't touch the drums during that time! Anyway , there's some great older pics in it as well. I've been a fan ever since i bought my first 8-track copy of "All the worlds a Stage", and actually saw them on the Signals tour.

They certainly are one of MY favorite rock bands of all time. My older cousin introduced me to them back in 1977, and we are both still major RUSH fans... some of my favorite songs from them:

In The End
The Temples Of Syrinx
Cygnus X-1, Book I and II
Xanadu
YYZ
The Trees
La Villa Strangiato
The Analog Kid
Anthem
Red Barchetta
Tom Sawyer
The Spirit Of Radio
Free Will
Limelight
Leave That Thing Alone

...and as you said, there are so many more... the three of them are so technically proficient on their respective instruments, and I really always enjoyed Neil Peart's mystical and science-fiction tinged lyricism, as well as nifty wordplay.

I can still remember when I had a weekly radio show in college, and one time I played 'In The End', and had quite a few calls to the studio line asking: "Who does that song? I love it!"... this was in the late 80's.

I love Rush - the only band that tops them in my book is Pink Floyd.

My favorite albums are "2112" and "Moving Pictures"

Some of my favorite tracks: Working Man, Rivendell, The Necromancer, Bastille Day, 2112, Lessons, Closer to the Heart, Red Barchetta, Limelight, Distant Early Warning, Chemistry, Open Secrets, Roll the Bones and from their latest album Faithless.

I will say though, there isn't a Rush song that I dislike.

RUSH IS THE GREATEST BAND EVER!, I saw them in Kansas City last year! Fantastic, I've been a rush fan since 74 or 75 (high school) haha, Best album ever is " All the worlds a stage. Also saw them in concert in 1978. Also in 1981 when they did Tom Sawyer. Sooo many good songs hard to name just one. On your list I would say for me, Jacob's Ladder... they have a very unique sound...excellent band...I could go on and on...:)

because of the fact Neil Peart is the superb drummer ever the failings he does are so complicated they sound like some superbly complicated atom-smasher different than in musical style. additionally there is Geddy Lee's hovering voice and thunderous bass and Alex Lifeson and his sizzling guitar oh and Neil Peart writes the songs that are in many cases with reference to the way forward for guy and various important issues.

Rush is an alright band. I dig their older stuff back when they sounded a bit like the Canadian Led Zeppelin, but I wouldn't call them one of the greatest bands of all time. I do like Geddy's vocals, though.
