well, say you were raped and got pregnant & it was a total accident..then yeah i think its ok.
but IF you were just "fooling around" carelessly, no its not right. you shouldnt kill an innocent child because you were stupid and careless enough to do that. the kid didnt do anything, YOU did. (well not YOU but you know.) therefore, the child shouldnt be harmed because its unfair and they wont get a chance to live life because of theyre stupid parents.

Abortion will never be OK, but if it is going to be performed, it must be by a trained surgeon. If the government were to outlaw abortion, there would still be underground clinics causing harm to the mothers as well as the unborn, so I guess in that sense, yes, abortions are "OK" so they can be performed properly.
Unfortunately, abortion would not be such a hot topic if more women were not so permiscuous and would take some responsibility for their actions. In other words, women should be carrying condoms, too...not just the guys.

I do not think it's okay. They all say it's the woman's body to do with what she wants. If she gets pregnant she was doing something she wanted. To abort the baby is wrong, once you become pregnant their is another person to consider. Look up the definition to pregnancy and see what it means. In this world of today it has become too easy for women to just get rid of a baby, just go to a doctor and say take it out. I wonder what the baby's think while this is happening to them?

This is one of those issues that is very difficult to look at objectively.
Every time I think about abortion it makes me very truly sad. I have seen the pictures. They break my heart.
Having said that, I understand that most women do not enter into this decision lightly. It's not like they wake up one morning and say "Oh, what a lovely day for an abortion." It goes deeper than that.
This is why I think that abortion should be left as a personal choice. I would never presume to understand first hand the circumstances that lead women to this decision.
I did know one woman who had so many abortions, I swore this was her form of birth control. That sickened me. But the other side of that was that I knew this woman was a drug addict, alcoholic. The idea of her having a child was pretty scary, at best.
There are so many neglected and abused children in the world. And many children are killed as a result of abuse. Sad to say, but I think that I would rather a child be aborted than to live a short life only to suffer abuse the entire time.
My objective side says that it is okay. My subjective side screams "NO!" Again, my subjective side is fueled only by emotion. It takes nothing into account except how sad it makes me. There is no logic in my emotion.
Ultimately, I have to go with my objective side and say that yes, it is okay.

I would say yes, abortion is okay. People should have the option not to have a child if they don't want to. Abortion doesn't take the place of birth control, though.
But all birth control methods are only 99% effective, which gives room for error.
And some people can't afford to have a child, or can't take care of one.
If I was a teenage mother, I'd get an abortion, because I knew I couldn't take care of the child properly. I would hurt it more by letting it be born.
It isn't fair to force someone to have a child, if they don't want one. You make the child and the parent(s) suffer.

Hey!
No one has the right to extinguish a life. We are all too imperfect to judge whether someone else deserves to live or die. Abortion is wrong, because it is the extinguishing of a living thing. I don't care if science says it isn't technically living yet, science has said a bunch of things that are idiotic (i.e. the world is flat; the world is the center of the universe; etc.). That baby is the beginning of life. It is where we all stem from, and you actually have the idea of killing an innocent for no other reason than that it bothers YOU???
How much more selfish can you get?
Why in the world would anyone in their right mind, want to get rid of such a precious miracle as a new life? What if Einstein's mother didn't want to have a baby? Or one of the other many brilliant minds of our times' parents? What's to say that the child you're killing wouldn't have found the cure to cancer? What do you know of that little seed's future? And who are you to decide whether they get to see it?
So what if it's your body? It's their home! It's their life! It's their future! And you flush it down the toilet. What possible good reason for that could you come up with?
Rape? Have the baby, then put it up for adoption. Don't want the baby? Put it up for adoption! Don't have time for the baby? Find time, or put it up for adoption! THERE IS NO EXCUSE! Murder is murder.
Life is precious. And if you don't appreciate it for what its really worth, you deserve life far less than that precious little baby. Because life is a GIFT, it's not something you can earn, or that you deserve. It's something completely exquisite, something that none of us should ever forget was given to us, and we did nothing to deserve it.
Abortion is completely, irrevocably wrong. It's the destruction of the most valuable thing anyone could ever have.
Do you appreciate life? Or are you so self-centered as to think you're the only one who has the right to live?
Luv ya,
Tashi :)
P.S. As to their suffering in their lives and then dying young anyway. YOU don't know if that is going to happen. They might survive the abuse. And, even if they don't, does preventing suffering justify removing all chances that baby has? That baby will never get to see colors like you and I. That baby will never get to taste different things, like chocolate and cinnamon. That baby will never get to feel different textures on their skin. That baby will never get to swim for the first time, feeling water all around it, holding it up. That baby will never form its first words, and delight in the new experience of communication. That baby will never get to see an animal, and touch their fur. That baby will never smell things like baking cookies or flowers or perfume. That baby will never see things as incredible as a garden or a tree, or even things as simple as another person's face. That baby will never get to delight in its first steps, and feel the unbelievable freedom in being able to move on its own. That baby won't even get to feel that first wonderful intake of breath, letting the life-giving oxygen fill its little lungs for the very first time.
So they might suffer! If you asked anyone on this planet if they could choose between feeling all that, or never suffering, I can guarantee that they will choose to EXPERIENCE the wonders of life. And who are you to decide that that child shouldn't have the chance to do the same exact things that you and I take for granted every day.
P.P.S. By the way, you can't say that my answer isn't a balanced view of the subject of abortion, because I looked at it from every perspective. I just happened to come to the same answer every time.
P.P.P.S. Okay, then. Using your logic, it's okay for someone to come along and slit your throat. Because, despite what you might think, you're just a lump of cells in the grand scheme of things yourself. And it doesn't matter if you weren't ready to have a baby. That baby was ready to live. And your life is not more important than someone else's.

If all rape children were put to death I would not be here. I am glad to be alive and have contributed much to society. No child should be robbed of life. The only circumstance is if the baby will die and the mother will die if she tries to have it.

If you could be aborted by a society just because you exist, would you allow it? To save the life of the mother is priority than of the child. She came first.

outside of religious beliefs read Immanuel Kant's "Universal Theory." OK short version: if you go around killing human babies then mankind will seize to exist, therefore for the greater good it is wrong.

This is, of course, a tough one. Personally I believe it is a woman's right to decide and if men gave birth it would be a constitutional right. There are a lot of things to consider, not least of which is can you personally deal with the aftermath and perhaps the guilt. I also tend to agree somewhat with the first answer....don't be stupid and get pregnant. There is no good reason for any woman to get pregnant who does not want a child. But ultimately, it is, in my opinion up to the woman to decide. Woman are not breeding stock.....

No, because then you would take an innoccnt child's life away! Trust me....if you are really preganant, well because you didn't tell us if you were, then keep the baby. I hear from MANY mothers who were about to have an abortion or had children young that it was THE BEST THING that happened in their life.
