i know it might be different for some resturants but whats the average time you can or should make a reservation.
do they usually have limitations to how long in advance you can reserve?

more specifically for me, i want one at Earls on valentines day at lunch.

For holidays I would call at least 2 months ahead, especially if it is a popular restaurant. Dinner might be more popular, so lunch might not be as busy, unless they get a large lunch crowd.

for a holiday as big as valentines day I do not think it is ever too early. I would call now. I tried to make v-day reservations once and called 3 weeks in advance and they were already booked!

my best advice to you is to call Earls and ask them. They are the only ones that can tell you about their reservation bookings.

if its a hot place to be id say about a few months before hand. but you cant go wrong with just calling the restaurant and asking them yourself.
