I am making a dream catcher and this is the first time. I got a page of instructions but the instructions tell me to take the sinew around the ring with a half hitch and I have no idea what it is!!!!!

This will be hard to explain, so bare with me.

Hold the circle in front of you with the string on top of the edge of the circle. Hold it there with your thumb and pointer finger.

Take the tail of the string and pull it up from underneath and behind the edge of the circle. Do not pull this tight, but leave a "U" or a loop at the bottom. Keep holding the short end with your thumb and pointer finger.

Now, take the end/tail of the string that is pointing up and bring that end over (in front of the edge of the circle) and put it through the loop that is at the bottom of the edge and by your fingers holding the short end.

Pull it tight.

Now do that again and again. You will see that an "edge" of string with ridges forms around the edge of the circle. Make sure you twist this edge to where you want it to be on the circle.

That is the best I can describe and here is a picture:

To help you a bit more, here is a page with the knot, used in a different way too:
http://knopen.ismijnhobby.nl/tables/half_hitch_knot_table.html

Imagine that your ring is the blue line, keep making the knots as they are made in the red line.
Each of the versions will work for you, but keep making the same version all around.

You can also go forward and backwards with each next knot, as in the sample in the third row, first knot:
