We have fought for a thousand years to be independent. Millions of people have died for our right to be free, including several members of my family. I too fought for this country. We are not Europeans, we are British. We are not interested in being subject to the foreigners. We have bailed out those on the continent. Now they want us to obey them. No way !

Edit: Trust a Scot to insult the English. No wonder we are being taken over, with that attitude. The irony is, Scots have always been strong allies of France. That says it all !

1. We vote for our own Government, we do not need one in Brussels.
2. It is a bare-faced lie to say it benefits the economy, the books do not balance when people expect free NHS treatment without ever paying for it, translation for Police, the holding of foreign nationals in our jails, etc. etc.
3. We have the strongest currency in the world already.
4. We are already one of the most densely populated countries on the planet.
5. To dilute the countries potential for the sake of a European average of all member "States" does not benefit this country or its people.

It may be a different story if all european countries were set up in the same way, but we are not. The UK has a lot that the the other countries do not have and it is not possible for all those to come over here to reap those rewards. It is not a racist issue, but simply one of finite infrastructure.

i think of which will take place on condition that Britain stops attempting to faucet dance down the middle of the Atlantic and extremely will become a real member of the ecu. And whether that happens relies upon on which the city prefers - to be a disrespected and ruled junior companion to Wall highway (in spite of financial capability), or an equivalent coworker with Frankfort and the Paris bourse. Oh, and that i heartily propose a stricter, extra federalized gadget, and a pan-ecu protection tension. because of the fact if history is any handbook, in case you grow to be a serious risk to my bosses' international dominance, you will choose a unified protection tension to combat off a U.S. attack. And no be counted what, the ecu won't get the extra desirable than 0.5-a-century on suitable that the U.S. did (1945-2001). because of the fact China will shoulder you aside in approximately 10-15 years. .

The European Union was falsely sold to the British people as a Common Market.
The EU is an insidious political project that threatens the existence of Britain and the well being of the British people. The EU plans to swallow nation states and create a political superstate. The unelected bureaucrats of the EU now make over 70% of British laws. These laws are not debated in the British Parliament. They are not in the best interests of the British people. They pass directly on to Britain's statute books.
Meanwhile the EU's fiscal house is a mess. The EU's Court of Auditors will not sign off on them. Vast sums of money are unaccounted for, suggesting that millions of pounds of the taxpayers' hard-earned money is disappearing into the pockets of EU kleptocrats. Even when these frauds involve companies set up in Britain by EU operatives, Britain's Serious Fraud Office refuses to investigate.
Many British politicians seem to have a personal interest in the EU project: A growing number of them have signed onto the EU gravy train for its lavish salaries, perks, and pensions.Because the EU controls immigration policy, the British Government cannot control or refuse steep population migrations from all over Europe.
The Human Rights Act, which is EU-inspired, means that nearly everyone entering Britain is entitled to stay. The same act means that criminals now have more rights than victims, and that the courts decide social policy.
The EU detests Britain's Common Law. Common Law protects both freedom and prosperity, yet the EU wants to destroy it.
Britain has been divided into EU regions, and the traditional counties are being trashed. In the EU, England is no longer a political entity, but has been divided into nine regions. These EU regions receive funding from and are responsible to the EU, thus bypassing elected representatives in Westminster. They are governed by appointed (not elected) regional assemblies, which, astonishingly, are private bodies not approved by Parliament. Individual rights, individual redress, and individual representation are disappearing as unaccountable eurocrats take over.
I could go on,and on and on.......
This wretched Socialist superstate is the nightmare I want to escape...

Because we are losing our freedom. The EU is including lots of poorer, Eastern Bloc countries and giving them the right to flood here for the things their own countries can't give them such as jobs, homes, health care etc. And British people are losing out! Our country's superstructure was set up to provide for the people of Britain not half of Eastern Europe as well!!!

The EU is trying to tell us how to run our country, they want us to abandon our own currency and use the EURO. They want a European Superstate in which British sovereignty plays second fiddle to the wishes of the EU Fuhrer.

Why did we even bother fighting World War II to keep Britain free if we were going to hand over all control of our country to the EU anyway?!

UK OUT of the EU!

Same reason we joined Nato rather than the USSR.

The EU represents evil socialist enslavement of the people - we beleive in freedom.

Cooperation between european states is possible and desirable - but there is no way the current EU organisations can have anything to do with it - they are corrupt and incompetent beyond repair.

Because we were lied to about the eec, masshtict.

We were denied a referendum on the treaty, and were again lied to when merkel and other dishonest eu leaders changed it`s name, enabling our lying govt to break yet another referendum promise.

Auditors have refused(for over 10 years) to sign off the eu accounts due to the high level of corruption.

As far as i am concerned the eu can get stuffed.

Nickel Johann ---I am BRITISH.....i will NEVER be an eu citizen...you can get stuffed too!.

Because this is an Island, not actually joined to anyone, except of course the Euro tunnel. And we have given over too many of our Rights to faceless bureaucrats, that will do for a start.

Nickel Johann i don't read any of those rags, i base my opinions on cross referencing, TV, news, broadsheets, watching parliament, and sundry other factors. And listening to others in a similar situation.

Karen, thank you I couldn't have put it better myself.

because we in Scotland don't want to give up our freedom to the fascist leaders taking sovereignty from everyone. we wont be rule by are own monarch so why do we want yours,

the EUseless is here for their benefit not ours, the politics is bad and the laws are worse. why should i respect others who will not respect me.

the EU has watered down the human race with useless laws and rights. allowing abuse and corruption every were. the EUseless's endless debates over problems are counter productive

the EU will crumble and destroy all with it and the leaders will walk away rich and untouchable

lastly we are a proud people and we will not be dictated to by anyone..

and that is all of us in Scotland,

i cant speak for the English as they are quite soft and spineless these days

we may join one day, but only after its understood we keep our country/nation in our own hands and in our control

we are not sheep like Europe has become

no offence meant

I'm not British, but I understand a country that wants to keep it's Independence. They can all trade and get along, but it's not necessary to turn over your Independence. It's kind of like too many people living in a house together. Just like we should keep our independance here in the US.
