after the mitchell report states clemens + petitte BOTH used steroids during their careers, and petitte comes out and admits it, the media and fans are quick to their defense.
albeit some columnists say they're just as bad as bonds, the majority of people defend these two yankees?
when bonds was accused, everyone looked at him as a disgrace.
is this racism?
why is this happening

I challenge the next person that claims racism to show me at least 3 examples where someone was quick to call Bonds a cheater but has nothing against what Clemens has done. From what I've been hearing and reading, people aren't forgiving of Clemens. But if you wanna prove me wrong, go ahead.

It is too bad that we couldn't find out ALL of the names of players who are/were guilty of using. You can't tell me Nomar wasn't on roids, for example. As a life long bball fan, I am surely disappointed, but not surprised.
Clemens and Pettitte aren't enduring the hate as does Bonds because they are totally different personalities. Bonds has been an arrogant and egotistical ****** for years, distancing himself from teammates and the media at every chance. He has rubbed everyone the wrong way for years, and his steroid accusations and now lying under oath give us true reasons to hate him.
Clemens and Pettitte have been some of the better teammates go to guys for the media, and they have engaging personalities. So far Pettitte has owned up to doing it, let's see if Roger does. I doubt it.
I think Clemens will be looked at as a disgrace, as does Bonds, but not as bad because he is not a complete and total ******, as is Bonds.

I think it is Bonds' personality plus he says he did not use yet a mistress comes out dissing him publicly....etc. As an Indians fan, I have had to come to terms with Paul Byrd as he will still be on our team next season. I think the leak before the final game of the ALCS was extremely wrong but I digress. I find myself wondering how the fans of the 1919 Chicago Black Sox felt when it was revealed that they had indeed thrown the World Series. In spite of that, Sox fans packed the court house and cheered when the players were acquitted. They still saw them as "heroes" - I guess I feel that same state of denial with Paul Byrd - I will push the steroid thing out of my mind and cheer for him whenever he pitches for Cleveland in 2008. Again - I think it is a personality thing. Byrd is a great team player, a level headed guy. Bonds just comes across as a big jerk and possibly a hater himself. It is hard to defend a guy who you think would spit in your face if he could do it and get away with it. Nothing to do with race, period.

Maybe it is racism or just the person regardless of skin color, I'm really not sure. Maybe it's the mean, arrogant and jerk-like personality. Maybe it's the fact that he just broke the all-time home run record-- one of the most celebrated records in baseball that relies on strength and power. Maybe it's because it seems so apparant. I really don't know. Clemens SHOULD be treated as badly. Maybe it will happen.

Pettitte did NOT take steroids. He took HGH for two days of his life to help recover faster from elbow tendonitis so he can come back to help his team quicker. HGH does not make you his farther, pitch faster or enhance your perormance in any way of that sort. HGH helps people recover from injuries faster, but it doesn't make them better at baseball.

I think people just have a dislike for Bonds because of his personality.

well they are letting pettite slide because he used HGH for only a couple times. the reason is not racism that bonds gets thrashed and pettite doesnt. Pettite did not break baseball's best record like bonds. Pettite won't make it into the hall of fame anyway so thats why everyone is against bonds, because he used to streroids to break that record.

I think theyre going to let pettitte ride. BUT clemens will be treated just like bonds. Just u wait and c. Otherwise, it will become clear that they picked on barry because of his race and personality. CLEMENS is all that is wrong in baseball.

The hate for them is infused with the hate for the Yankees.

ive heard nobody defend those two guys. they are disgraced. just like bonds. there are less stories about these two than bonds because people are sick of this whole story i think. it will take a long time for baseball to get over this

i think they are both just as bad, ive been following it fairly close. i havent heard too many defending them. anyone proven to have taken enhancers should have records stripped and banned from the hall of fame
