A neighbor of mine complained about the sound coming from my apartment but I really need to make noise. I produce music a lot and when I do so I have a sub-woofer...not really that loud, on so I can listen to the bass and how it sounds with the musi. Anyhow, is there something home-made I can make and put on my wall to make the bass a little less "bassy"? A friend told me to cover my wall with thick bed sheeets....but idk. Any suggestions?

Cork board is suppose to be the thing to put on walls to cut the sound down.

Go to your neighbors when your music is playing and listen to the noise before and after.

Bass is transmitted through the structure more
than through the air.
Try isolating the woofer from the floor by putting it
on some sort of cushion or a couple of layers of
foam board.

Acoustic tile like you put up as a drop ceiling is one thing.

Cork tile but it needs to be thick as in 3/4" or so.

Heavy tapestries, Persian Rugs, Sound deadening Drapery are a few others.

Select acoustically soft material. High frequencies are much easier to contain than lows are. More layers of thinner materials would probably work better than one thick layer.

Have you considered headphones?

im no expert in this matter, but i hear that egg cartons work well with sound reduction.

i have had friends line them on the entire wall to help reduce sound (he played drums).
