Allan Keyes is a phony who comes across as a know-it-all, pompous, arrogant son of gun. He came to Chicago to run against Obama for the IL senate. No one connects with him. Rather, he doesn't know how to connect with people. He even speaks as though his nostrils are locked shut. His facial expressions are not inviting, but more-so stand-offish. Keyes is simply a poor salesperson of himself even if he has sound ideas which I simply do not know.

To answer your question, his ethnicity may play some role (very little if any). However, my perception is that no matter his ethnicity, no one would like him do to his personality in the public arena. I'm as black as Keyes is and I don't like him (as a politician) myself.

Good question...

* He was for the Vietnam war.
* Bill Kristol was his roommate in 1972 and ran his campaign in the 96. We've had enough WeeklyStandard/PNAC BS!!
* In 2004 tried to run for congrees against Obama even though he never lived in Illinois. Then declined to congratulate Obama.
* In 2005 joined the futile attempt to re-insert Terri Schiavo's feeding tube.

Is he black? I didn't notice. I have no problem with that.
He is conservative I'll give you that. But he's another Bible thumping chickenhawk who bows down to Israel's every whim. WE 100% CERTAINLY DON'T NEED THAT.
Ron Paul is a true conservative.

A good example of a black conservative would be Clarence Thomas.

Alan Keyes is our comic relief.

To me all the Republicans are the same, pandering to or being religious fanatics. In that regard, Keyes is the most extreme. He gets little publicity because maybe he has fewer campaign resources. Being Black is not the issue, but many Republicans do tend to be racist, when compared to Democrats

He is a little too far out of the mainstream, even for me, a devout conservative.

That's not really his best work. Keyes hasn't been treated too well by the Republican party, and I admire his persistence. He is great on Constitutional law and liberal judicial activism.

It could be a large group of conservatives feel uneasy voting for an African American. I'm not saying conservatives are racists but racists do vote right wing, always did, always will
