Look for a legal aid society. Free lawyers are only provided for defendants in criminal cases. Some legal aid societies can help with civil law. This is usually a matter of lawyers volunteering free time to help those that cannot afford an attorney.

I suggest you contact your local law school or local bar association. Ask them if there are any "volunteer lawyer programs" in your area that specialize in landlord-tenant issues.
