I usually get to bed around 11-12 and wake up at around 5:45-6. I feel fine but then on the weekends I feel the need to catch up and sometimes I wake up with a throbbing headache.
Why is that?
Thanks!

On average, most people need approximately 8 hours of sleep per night but there are people who need more, and there are people who need less. I suspect that you are not getting enough sleep and that is why you are getting headaches and on the weekend you are sleeping extra. Try to get at least 7 hours per night and see if the headaches and weekend fatigue don't subside. If that doesn't do it, try 8 hours of sleep. If your headaches don't go away after getting more sleep consistently, see a doctor. It could be a hormonal issue.

It is fine to sleep for around 6 hour of sleep EVERYDAY.

As long as you can concentrate on your daily work in the day time after x hours of sleep, the x hours of rest is good enough.

You have headache probably because you sleep too much on WEEKENDS.

On the other hand, if you find yourself sleepy in the day time, then x hours of sleep is not enough and you may need to catch up on the weekends.

You should be getting about 7-8 hours of sleep and drinking at least 3 large glasses of water, more if you are involved in sports or are very active, every 24 hours.

Ideally, you should be getting eight hours of sleep, especially at your age. Headaches are a common sign of sleep deprivation. If you are having trouble sleeping more, you may try to limit your caffeine consumption or just try relaxing earlier so that you can get to bed at an earlier time.
