i was going at about 37 mph on interstate highway on the extreme left lane and i got pulled over for going too slow and impeding the flow of traffic. Also i was ticketed for taking out lots of heavy black smoke and smog out of tail pipe.

I feel this is very unfair because i was targeted simply because my vehicle is too old. How come new car drivers are never ticketed?

My car doesn't run over 40 mph because its transmission and engine have no more strength left in it. I tried telling this to officer and he said he will write me a 3rd ticket if i argue more and he even said, "using bus is better than driving lemons and endangering yours and other people's lives".

I now feel discriminated and humiliated. The officer was unfair in issuing me a ticket, right?

No.

1 - If the road had a minimum speed limit and you were going slower than that speed, or you were being a danger to other road users with your slow speed, you are breaking the law.

2 - Large plumes of smoke are a hazard to other road users, and may cause your car to be deemed unroadworthy by an officer. You are lucky you weren't told to leave the car and return for it with a pickup truck.

If your car can't drive the minimum speed limit, you shouldn't have it on the interstate. The officer cited you justly. Sorry 'bout that. It might be time for a newer car or an overhaul.

No, way you were discriminated against... You said it yourself, you were driving in the left lane at 37mph on a highway. Left lanes are for passing, and if your vehicle can't move out of its own way then you are creating a hazard for yourself and others. Also, this officer didn't humiliate you, you humiliated yourself with your own old car.

When you received your drivers license, you accepted the rules that go with it. Driving that slow on an Interstate is a violation. You caused your own problems.
