Do you mean the fruit, you can but the fruit for 99 cents at a grocery store, the cost for a plant ranges from 3,99$-39.99$ depending how big it is, the places i have seen them was at wal-mart or a really well known plant shop.

I work at a garden shop and our Prickly Pear plants (if thats what you mean) are 9.99 and are about a foot high and a foot wide. The cool thing about Prickly pears is that you can break off one of the "pads", set it in some soil either outside or inside and it will root and you have another Prickly Pear plant. Set the pad flat on the ground. But watch out! The "hairs" on them are almost invisible and will stay on your skin for days. Makes your skin really itchy and red! Hope this helps.

They grow here and are as numerous as weeds and free for the digging. If you can get one to bloom, they bloom in a variety of colors and are just beautiful. Consider a vacation in south Texas and you can take one home as a souvenir.
