he's not understanding. just tell him you really can't tonight. Maybe set up something different for a different time that you can do together. If he still doesn't cooperate, maybe take a little break and put your mind at ease. No offense, but someone isn't worth the effort if all they do is cause you stress.

He's being unreasonable. If he wants what is best for you he will understand you need to study. Also he should support you now that you've stoped smoking and yes drinking will definitly hinder your chances of staying off smoking. Relationships are all about compremise perhaps he wants to spend some time with you. Take a break from college work every now and then and suggest you do some non drinking activity together perhaps go see a movie or something. If you simply have too much work perhaps you shouldn't be in a relationship at this time. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Sounds like communication breakdown to me.

He deserves to be able to go out, and you do to. He probably wanted to spend some time with you away from the school work. Sounds like maybe you guys haven't been spending much time together?

However, if it's that he doesn't understand the priorities in your life then maybe you two really aren't compatible.

You need to honestly look at your relationship and decide if it's worth it. You need to talk with him about it and ask serious questions.

I've seen a lot of people stay in relationships that were doomed, and it does nothing but waste your time.

No he's showing a lack of understanding. He should know drinking associates with smoking. He should help you kick the habit. If he wants to drink, let him go to the bar., or bring it home.

He is showing of lack of understanding and a lack of respect for you trying to improve your life. Move on without him and finish your education. Later on you can find a gentleman who like you appreciates the value of an education and no one can take that education away from you.

He should want you to do well in college. It would been a better job for you in the future. He is being unreasonable.

Who cares !!! Life is too short for arguements - if you really care for each other, ring him, tell him it's too silly to argue about grab a couple of cans of lager, a chinese, come back to you and have a romantic night in !!!!
