He's so right about not being able to compromise with corporate power that is distorting our democracy. Bob Schieffer kept badgering him about compromising with corporate power for change. Edwards pointed out that if compromising with corporations for change were possible, we'd already have universal coverage, a clean environment, no homelessness, no poverty, etc.
Edwards also said if it was possible to compromise with corporate power, he could walk into a courtroom as a tort attorney and ask the opposition to do the right thing, submitting to the result that was good for society as a whole. He said the opposition would laugh at him if he tried to appeal to their ethics.
It's obvious he couldn't do that because they only serve themselves and their shareholders, not society. Their ethics aren't ethics revolving around common good. Corporations don't compromise away their wealth and power.
Change in Washington takes the courage of strong leadership, courage John Edwards is showing!
