Very little is known about Pizarro’s youth, except that he was illegitimate; was neglected by both parents; and was not even taught how to read and write.

Probably he had no worthwhile mentors at all until he joined Balboa’s expedition, crossing the Isthmus of Panama to discover the Pacific Ocean. Balboa might therefore count as Pizarro’s first real mentor.

His ambition was certainly sparked by the news of Cortez conquest of Mexico.

In addition to Hernando de Luque, he became a partner of Diego de Almagro in 1524. The three friends made an agreement in 1526 that all lands, treasures, etc., that they discovered, were to be divided equally between them. On that basis, I suggest that de Almagro might also be considered a mentor.

Clearly Cortez, though I don't know if they ever met. Pizarro wanted to emulate Cortez's success.
