If you include Akron, the most famous celebrity today born in Greater Cleveland is LeBron James. However, I've otherwise excluded Akron from the following lists.

It's somewhat surprising that, to my knowledge, no prominent historical figures actually were born in Cleveland.

One candidate for long-lasting fame is Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison, who was born in Lorain.

President James A. Garfield was born in Moreland Hills (his presidential home is a national historical site maintained by the National Park Service in Mentor and his tomb, which has a beautiful view of downtown Cleveland, is in Lakeview Cemetery).

Admiral Ernest King (Lorain) was chief of naval operations during World War II.

Film and TV celebrities born in Cleveland include Halle Berry, Joel Grey, composer Henry Mancini, Burgess Meredith, Phil Donahue, Margaret Hamilton (wicked witch of the West in Wizard of Oz), Jim Backus, Dorothy Dandridge, Drew Carey, Wes Craven, Hal Holbrook, Carol Kane, Arsenio Hall and Debra Winger, among many others.

Persons born in Greater Cleveland include: Paul Newman (Shaker Heights), Tim Conway (Willoughby), Patricia Heaton (Bay Village), Anne Heche (Aurora), Molly Shannon (Shaker Heights), and Teri Garr (Lakewood).

Probably the most famous athletic figures born in Greater Cleveland are football coaches Don Shula (Grand River) and Jim Tressel (Mentor), both from Lake County.

I suspect that many of the above birth places actually are birth homes. For example, Shaker Heights doesn't have a hospital to my knowledge and many persons living there have their children today at Rainbow Babies' & Children's Hospital. Similarly, many persons may be listed as born in Cleveland hospitals even though their birth homes were in surrounding communities.

The Indians have won a international sequence, and would gain this back this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. i think of the Browns triumphing the Superbowl would be plenty larger in Cleveland. ought to this be the 300 and sixty 5 days Cleveland turns into the city of champions? Indians have an outstanding shot, Cavs have an outstanding shot, Browns....properly...that they had an outstanding draft...it is a start up!
