Yes! Women usually have hair all over their body, though it may be very fine to even hairy. We're just taught to be "soft and smooth," while we have to shave, wax, and remove hair to obtain that.

It depends on things like hormonal problems or their ethnicity. Some women are more prone to having mustaches than others. I don't actually know if it is normal because I almost never see women with them. I assume it's because most women wax or use hair removers to remove them. I personally don't have a mustache and have never had one. It doesn't mean that I am hairless, though. It's just that what I have isn't nearly noticeable enough to want to go through the pain of waxing or using other hair removal methods.

Not all women get hairier when they go through menopause. I don't recall my mother ever having this occur with her. In fact, she has said that she became less hairy as she got older. I'm of menopause age myself and I haven't noticed anything changing. I still have the same crappy thin eyebrows I've always had.

Sure. They are just facial hair, and in this nation, across most cultures, females try to eliminate the indications of a mustache. Me too.

Some women do. As said by prior posters, menopause can bring this on. Having a lot of testosterone can cause moustaches.

Yes it's for protection. In fact you have tiny hairs all over your face for warmth cool and infection. If you have an overgrowth that's a hormonal disorder.

Mr Know All - you have contradicted yourself - no it is not normal, but then you say how it happens after menopause, and the only thing that will stop it is hormone therapy.

So it IS normal for post menopausal women, and it is also normal for women whose hormones are balanced differently - they are still 'normal' women even if their hormones aren't!
