You think it will solve all problems. Ok,, take a look at a mock set up. The teams and how they were chose.
Florida Atlantic vs. Ohio State | West Virginia vs. Hawaii
Georgia vs. Boston College | Oklahoma vs. BYU
LSU vs. Central Michigan | USC vs. Arizona State
Virginia Tech vs. UCF | Missouri vs. Illinois
ACC - Virginia Tech
Big East - West Virginia
Big Ten - Ohio State
Big 12 - Oklahoma
C-USA - UCF
MAC - Central Michigan
Mountain West - BYU
Pac 10 - USC
SEC - LSU
Sun Belt - Florida Atlantic
WAC - Hawaii
at-large - Georgia
at-large - Missouri
at-large - Arizona State
at-large - Illinois
at-large - Boston College
Now..you tell me who got left out. Poll voters are still the ones that decided who were ranked where in the at large bids. The debate of who got left out will surely be a heated one. And just because one team won it's conference does not mean they are deserving of a playoff spot for the NC game. Are They??

For the record,, I didn't leave out anyone. This was set up by scout.com. Not me. It is probably the way it would work.

See, that's what I'm talking about Chayna. Why do you deserve a shot if you are your conference Champ? If you win conference with 2 losses but at the hands of poor teams.. are you more deserving than a 3 loss team that lost to say,, top 15 ranked teams?
Yes Blibitiy.. Kansas got left out.. So did Florida,, So did Tenn. That's what I'm saying. Those who think playoffs will solve issues are so wrong. The heated debates still go on as who to pick for playoffs over who. With 120 div. I schools. and so many conferences. How do you even make playoffs fair?

There is NO PERFECT SYSTEM... They are all created by humans, and we by no means are perfect. So, I look at it like this. Say you win your conference, who cares??? Look at the Conference USA, the Sun Belt Conference, The Independant Teams, or Mid-American Conference, or maybe even the Mountain West Conference who by the way is the only conference of them that I mentioned to have a ranked team, (Brigham Young) and it is ranked 19th. Out of 46 teams a little over 1/3rd of the total, only 1 is ranked... ONLY ONE!!! So, obviously that system is not fair and would cause a great deal of conflict.
Next is the top 16 teams in the playoffs, or if that is too many, maybe just 8. But that is still unfair. Hawaii is undefeated, and ranked 10th. Okay, so they didn't have the strongest of schedules. But they are UNDEFEATED!!!! and they would be left out... Now how fair is that? When Ohio State played only 3 ranked opponents, none ranked higher than 23rd at the time when they played. But loses to, "on week 11" at that time an UNranked Illinois team. See everyone, the only system that I think works as close to PERFECT as we would like it to, is the IMPERFECT SYSTEM that is currently in use. YES people, that would be the BCS System.
There are 119 college football teams, not 32 as in the NFL, or 30 in MLB, or 30 in the NBA, or even 30 in the NHL. The next time you think there should be a playoff system in NCAA Football. Remember this... EVERY WEEK IS PLAYOFFS!!!

I think most fans want a playoff system now, not just fans from weaker conferences. I am an LSU fan, and I would love to see them get another shot at Arkansas. Likewise, Bama would want another shot at Auburn and Stanford would against Oregon. A playoff system would be great, and unfortunately it won't happen for a long time. Until a major controversy happens again (like the 2004 Auburn team that got robbed of playing for the NC) there is no way the NCAA will implement a playoff system. I also think a playoff system would determine if Boise St. is a contender or pretender.

Kansas only had one loss, and I don't see them. 16 teams is way to many for a playoff. Teams like Boston college and Florida atlantic have no business playing for a national championship. As standford and appalacian state proved this year, any team can win on any given saturday, and with a playoff, you could have a situation where Florida atlantic stuns LSU, then turns around and gets smoked by Vtech. LSU smoked Vtech in the regular season.
Another scenario is 3 loss Illinios could run the table, and no way a three loss team deserves to be national champion. I am against a playoff, but I could handle a 4 teamer, and could even deal with an 8 teamer, but a 16 teamer just kills the regular season.

Well who would you rather leave out? Teams with 3-4 losses or teams that have the same record as the top 2 teams?
Yes there would be a debate on whoever was left out but it would give the best teams from each conference a shot. If you weren't even the best in your own conference then why would you automatically deserve contention for the national title?

I've been saying for a while that even with a playoff there will be people that think their team got left out. The scout.com bracket is just as good as, and matches pretty closely with, all of the others out there. The system we have now is just as good as the broken system we've always had. So long as people vote on who is best, their opinions and biases will come into the picture. There's no way around it. People love to hate the computer polls, but at least with cold hard numbers what you see is what you get.

we would have the top 14 teams play and the first 2 teams would get a bye then there will be 8 teams left. Then you play it like the nfl 8<4

You win your conference and you get in, simple. That works pretty well in basketball.
There is always going to be the issue of who gets left out of the at large bids, but by expanding the field you are giving alot more teams the chance to decide it on the field.
How do you know LSU and OSU are number one and two? Could USC beat LSU, or OSU, could Georgia beat either of them, or how bout oklahoma?
These are questions we will never find out with the BCS in place.

I'd say an undefeated team(Hawaii) is more deserving of a chance to play for the national championship than a 2 loss team(LSU)
