Do you think that family has become too much of a gamble these days?

Today's society just seems like such a MESS and WRECK! Marriage and divorce is just out of control (People throw "divorce parties" for God sake!!) Marriage in general just seems obsolete. And not to be sexist, but from a guys point of view. Women seem very high risk. I heard that by age 40, 66% of women file for divorce out of no where. Not to mention female infideliy in general. If you read some of the studies on that. Mind blowing!
Added to that, cheating in general! people have become VERY black hearted when it comes to that! no one really cares.
And I don't believe in common law, cause that to me does NOT seems like a safer bet. You wanna a easy way out, why live together?!

So in general, the entire family/relationship, "love" thing. Is it just too much of a gamble you'll lose these days?

Getting out of bed each day brings with it risk.Do we stop leaving the house due to the fact something bad might happen ? No,We go out into the big scary world and take a chance that everything will be ok.People fall in love and stay together because they take that leap of faith that they will beat the odds that their relationship will succeed. It takes both people in a relationship to make it work, whether it is a marital or commonlaw relationship.I don't know where you get your information from but it appears to me that someone is giving very biased information. How can it be more of a risk for the male than it is for a female? You seem to be discussing traditional male-female couples so each sex takes a risk. Each person, regardless of gender is accountable for his or her behaviour in a relationship.Family is not obsolete but the traditional definition of family is.The traditional definition of family is obsolete but being a family is so much more than a definition Is a single parent family or a blended household less of a family?.I've lived a lot longer than you and I can assure you that life is not easy .Those who are afraid to take a chance will never grow or will one day regret the fact they did realize a dream because they could not take the first step. Not every relationship will work out but the rewards for the couples who do make it work are far greater than you can imagine.I sincerely hope one day you allow yourself the opportunity to try find someone. You may have many encounters before you find that special someoneWishing you a Merry Christmas.Take care

Life itself can be a gamble.....You gamble when you walk out your front door that you won't be hit by a mac truck somewhere that day....But you are right about marriage and divorce....Seems to be more divorces these days then marriages.....And the reason more women are filing...Is because there are more women in the workforce...and can take care of themselves financially....so they don't have to stay in a marriage if they aren't happy...Same goes for cheating...More women are cheating for the same reasons...They are in the work place and are taking a gamble that they won't get caught...but if they do...they aren't up a creek without a paddle so to say...they have a job to support themselves....Years ago when more women stayed home and took care of children and the house....they didn't have many options...there only option was to stay in the marriage....So you could say that women are catching up with men...Yes more women are cheating these days....but statistics still say more men cheat.....Marriage is a gamble....giving your heart to someone is a gamble....they are just risk you to take....

Well, I don't know about the statistics on women vs men on cheating, but from what I hear around my area, its about equal, and yes, people throwing divorce parties is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. I don't see how divorce could have a happy outcome, but hey, maybe they just find a excuse to party, who knows!! I agree that people are becoming more blackhearted, but I have to say that I know some of the nicest people in the world, and I focus on them. That's what keeps my sanity intact. As far as the common law, I don't even think that thats acknowledged anymore from what I hear. Things are messed up, yes, but what could we possible do to change that????????

I think in a lot of ways it is. But there are a few people who can make it and have the right intentions on having a family. Marriage and having a family has basically lost its meaning these days and its sad that we don't have the values that we once had.

It is not the institution of marriage that is the problem, but society as a whole. I believe people should get back to the basics of clean living. But things ain't looking too good.

You're looking at the glass as half empty.

There are millions of people in good healthy happy marriages....the problem is we don't hear about those people.

Marriage is what every individual couple makes it.
