A gift card for gasoline--will she be getting her license on her b-day? I would have been thrilled with that!

How about a "Sweet 16" gold charm if she wears a bracelet? That would be within your budget. I was thinking other jewelry items, but they'd be outta your budget, such as a pearl necklace, watch, etc. The charm is good cuz it would be a keepsake also. Or maybe a nice pr. of gold stud earrings? You know, the ball shaped type or pearl? Those are good to build a lasting jewelry collection for life on. Wal-Mart or K-Mart has jewelry at reasonable prices, especially during the holiday shopping season. And the gold is real, not fake. Or maybe birthstone earrings? Something classic, not trendy. If the cost is till too much just take a collection up among the girlfriends. Most teens have a limited budget, so this could be a solution to make it a group gift & widen your field of choices. Maybe throw in a chain or such. The memories attached to it would be endless & bring her a smile forever to think back. Memories are priceless as one gets older. Take it from a sappy 53 yr old that has kept lil nostalgic things. Discuss it with the other girls (or boys too). Maybe her mom could give input. Who knows, she may even kick in a few bucks! I would to help & keep my contribution a total secret.

how about a Teen Journal i know it sounds a bit crap but when u are 16yrs old it's the best year of ur life but At the same time it can also be the most difficult years in a person’s life. By gifting this journal you can help her to cultivate a habit of writing down her problems and then trying to find solutions for her problems.
and is quiet cheap or you could give her a Zodiac Necklace that has a charm attached to it, which on its one side has the picture and the name of the zodiac sign, and the other side has a quality trait attached to that particular zodiac sign

ask for a ring or necklace with your favourite jemstone. it doesn't have to be too expensive. a photo of all your closest family and friends. a cool poster - maybe of your favourite band or movie or person maybe a puppy or a kitten. and as an extra special gift, it can be adopted from those animal orphanage places. there is nothing better than to give an animal a life full of love. my 16th is coming up as well ... i'd better start thinking of what i should ask for.

a little keepsake, like a little initial necklace or cute little earrings, something she will remeber you got her for that birthday, if you have afew pounds to spare after that to id get a little cute frame and put a pic in of the 2 of you together, that way she will also have memories of you both being sixteen whenever she looks at that picture :)
