Ok I'm a student with no money in the bank.

I have just been hired at a new job. Will a bank give me a credit card now that I have just started working?

I need about 1000 - 2000 to spend on a credit card.

Can I get a credit card?

You probably can find a credit card company willing to take a risk on you--probably not for $2000 though!

But please think about this logically:: They're going to be taking a huge riske extending credit to someone who is already unable to meet her financial obligations. They're going to charge you a SKY HIGH interest rate to compensate. Even if you can make the minimum payments, the interest is going to kill you.

Why don't you try talking to your financial aid office at your school first about a low interest loan that doesn't have to be paid back until after you graduate from college. That's probably a much better idea.

Good luck!

Here's an idea: quit borrowing so much money and opening credit accounts, and use the money from your job to pay back what you already owe.

Getting a new credit card should be the last of your worries if you're already in debt with no money in the bank.

If you are in debt, why would you open up another credit card to go into more debt? Don't do it. My sister is 35 and still lives at home due to credit card debt...it's a bad road to walk down.

You think going into even more debt is going to help you?

You think by putting things you can't afford on a credit card and paying double for them is going to help you get out of debt? By the time you pay interest over a long period of time, you'll never pay that thing off.

Just go begging to mommy and daddy and quit spending more than you make.

If your in debt and get credit your will get into bigger debt. Don't spend money you don't have. Spend what money you do have wisely.
