It is a allergic reaction to the (most likely cheap) metal, I can't wear less then 10K gold or anything with a certain amount of nickel in it. Otherwise I'll turn red and itchy or my finger will be green where the ring was. Lucky now they have lots of cute nickel free stuff.

Quit buying cheap jewelery and that won't happen. It's a chemical reaction between your sweat and the crapy metals or paints they put on the rings. It's actually the ring corroding on your finger. So go to a real jewelery store, as long as you don't buy diamonds, you can find some good, cute stuff for a reasonable price.

The salts and oils on your finger are probably reacting with the metals in the ring, probably copper if it turns green. Try gold or gold plated rings.

What is happening is your sweat is leeching out the mineral salts in the metal of the ring... yes it is usually costume jewelry that does it due to the fact that they use a lot of copper as filler in the ring to keep it malleable , ( soft and workable/ bendable) there are others like brass which is a cooper and zinc alloy. BTW there are some foreign countries the use copper In their gold jewelry one is Italy, they are also allowed to stamp 11 k gold as 14 k and export it to the US. In the US the gold must be 13.5k in order to legally stamp it 14K... so buyer beware!

The green comes from copper in the metal. It's usually a sign of a cheap ring.

Its the metals used for the ring. If your skin turns green is because the ring is made of copper or has copper in it. This happens when you sweat and it reacts with the copper making the copper rust. Thats why the statue of liberty is green, cause its made of copper! Hope this helps! :)
