I am looking to buy a printer that will not give me issues when I refill the ink cartridges. Canon ip1800 is what I'm using but it's telling me the cartridge is empty. I've used several HP Photosmart printers, but they are very slow to print, in comparison. Lexmark is an option, but I don't want any that's a top feed because I've had 5 of those, that had feed problems.

If you print enough that you NEED to refill, go for a laser. Toner costs more to buy, but per page cost is lower and print speeds are faster

You may want to investigate continuous ink systems.

They are available for various printer models. Using this system you never refill cartridges, only reservoir bottles.

But can an ink jet print on plastic canvas ?
